The eagerly awaited iQoo Neo 9 Pro is on the verge of its release in India, and the company has been dropping hints about its key features prior to its official launch.

Among its standout specifications is a dual rear camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel primary camera alongside an 8-megapixel secondary camera.

Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, introduced in late 2022, the phone is poised to enter the market next week, where it will contend with rivals like the OnePlus 12R and the Nothing Phone 2.

Having spent some hands-on time with the iQoo Neo 9 Pro, I've had the opportunity to put its cameras through their paces over the past few days.

Let's delve into the camera specifications of this upcoming smartphone.

Unlike its more advanced counterpart, the iQoo 12 released in December 2023, the Neo 9 Pro features a dual rear camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel primary camera equipped with a Sony IMX920 sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS), coupled with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.

The iQoo Neo 9 Pro offers three distinct image-capturing modes: Natural, Textured, and Vivid.

While Natural mode delivers color-accurate images, Textured mode produces detailed, sharpened images with warmer hues. Vivid mode enhances color saturation in captured photos.

During my camera tests with the iQoo Neo 9 Pro, I found myself using the primary camera in Natural or Vivid mode for outdoor scenes, while Textured mode proved effective for capturing detailed images of buildings or subjects requiring enhanced clarity, even indoors.

The primary camera enables detailed image capture at 1x and 2x zoom levels.

While Natural mode ensures accurate colors, Textured mode captures finer details at the expense of a slight change in color temperature.

Additionally, the phone offers a high-resolution mode for capturing 50-megapixel shots, rather than default pixel-binned images, which I'll delve into further in my comprehensive smartphone review.

On the other hand, the ultra-wide-angle camera on the iQoo Neo 9 Pro captures images with respectable detail, albeit with some distortion at the edges.

While it may not match the primary camera's level of detail, there's a noticeable difference in color temperature compared to the primary shooter.

Portrait images taken with the iQoo Neo 9 Pro exhibit sharpness and ample detail.

Notably, the camera interface for portrait shots indicates that skin enhancement features are disabled by default, with the bokeh effect being moderately subtle and adjustable both before and after image capture.

The device also features a dedicated night mode, capable of capturing decent images using the primary camera.

In dimly lit environments, such as a restaurant with subdued overhead lighting, the phone manages to retain a certain level of detail, albeit with some softening, blurring, and noise when zoomed in, particularly around light sources.

I plan to explore the Neo 9 Pro's camera performance in more challenging low-light scenarios in the days ahead.

It's important to bear in mind that these are my initial impressions of the handset's camera, slated for release in India next week.

As the phone may receive software updates leading up to its launch, stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for a comprehensive assessment of the iQoo Neo 9 Pro's camera performance, design, functionality, and battery efficiency, all of which will be covered in our full review of the smartphone.
